TBI

Subjective symptoms: symtoms that cannot be tested, but are stated by the examinee.

Neurobehavioral effects: Irritability, impulsivity, unpredictability, lack of motivation, verbal aggression, physical aggression, belligerence, apathy, lack of empathy, moodiness, lack of cooperation, inflexibility, and impaired awareness of disabilty. Can range from slight to severe.

Instrumental activities of daily living: complex daily activities such as managing finances, managing medications, food preparation, housekeeping, and laundry.

Apraxia: a disorder of the brain and nervous system in which a person is unable to perform tasks or movements when asked even though the request or command is understood and they are willing to perform the task.

If a TBI causes a mental health condition it will be rated under the corresponding diagnostic code.

Symptoms are organized into facets and rated based on severity. They will not receive ratings for multiple facets, but will instead receive one rating based on the facet that will award the veteran the highest rating. I have included the facets in this spreadsheet for the sake of clarity and organization.
1. Memory, attention, concentration, executive functions
2. Judgement
3. Social interaction
4. Orientation
5. Motor activity (with intact motor and sensory system)
6. Visual spatial orientation
7. Communication
8. Subjective symptoms
9. Neurobehavioral effects
10. Consciousness
