Scoliosis: A sideways curvature of the spine.
Reverse Lordosis: Occurs when the vertebrae of the cervical spine bend in the wrong direction.
Kyphosis: An excessive outward curvature of the spine, commonly referred to as "hunch back".
Favorable Ankylosis: Fixation of a spinal segment in a neutral position (zero degrees).
Unfavorable Ankylosis: The entire cervical spine, the entire thoracolumbar spine, or the entire spine is fixed in flexion or extension.
Cervical Spine: The neck area of the spine.
Thoracolumbar Spine: The transitional area between the thoracic spine (located around the rib cage) and the lumbar, or lower, spine.

Symptoms
Forward flexion of thoracolumbar spine is between 60 and 85 degrees.
Forward flexion of the cervical spine is between 30 and 40 degrees.
Combined range of motion of the thoracolumbar spine is between 120 and 235 degrees.
Combined range of motion of the cervical spine is between 170 and 335 degrees.
Muscle spasms, guarding, or localized tenderness is present, but does not result in an abnormal gait or abnormal spinal contour.
Vertebral body fracture with loss of 50% or more of the height.
Forward flexion of the thoracolumbar spine is between 30 and 60 degrees.
Forward flexion of the cervical spine is between 15 and 30 degrees.
Combined range of motion of the thoracolumbar spine is not greater than 120 degrees.
Combined range of motion of the cervical spine is not greater than 170 degrees.
Muscle spasms or guarding is severe enough to result in an abnormal gait or abnormal spinal contour such as scoliosis, reverse lordosis, or kyphosis.
Forward flexion of the cervical spine is 15 degrees or less.
Favorable ankylosis of the entire cervical spine.
Unfavorable ankylosis of the entire cervical spine
Forward flexion of the thoracolumbar spine is 30 degrees or less.
Favorable ankylosis of the entire thoracolumbar spine.
Unfavorable ankylosis of the entire thoraculumbar spine.
Unfavorable ankylosis of the entire spine.
